Staunton Castle

A great reproduction of the 1950 Dubrovnik set. Excellent finish and heavily weighted. Arrived in 5 days. On offer at £175 so good value as well. Both SC and the set are highly recommended as this is my fourth set from them.

I purchased this set some four years ago. It is EXQUISITE. The design, execution, and craftsmanship, are truly Superior. I have NO idea why it is priced hundreds of dollars below sets which lack its Beauty and Artistry.
It is one of my most treasured pieces of art.

Absolutely love the chest. It is absolutely stunning and is now perhaps my favorite chest set I own and I own about 12 sets dating back to the mid 60s
However, I was extremely disappointed that this company did not inform me or warn me from an email post they sent me showing that I had looked at this chest set several times and they were only three left, and I decided to purchase on their promo, but never warned me or never said anything about having to pay a $34 extra tariffs charge when they told me that shipping was for free! BewareBeware purchasers this company puts a hidden amount in their purchase that they don’t tell you about, they informed me in a reply email that it is in there webpage, but it wasn’t on any of the information sent to me on what my charges would be when I made the purchase! Not happy with their practices! But I am happy with the chest set, but there are additional charge for me to pay a tariff coming into the United States left a sour taste in my mouth and likely never purchased another chest set from this company again unless they want to refund my $34. Prior to making any other purchases.!

Everybody KNOWS this set of chessmen was Bobby Fischer's favorite. IF he were alive today, he would tell you Staunton Castle makes the most accurate Dubrovnik Chessmen
you can buy anywhere today. The fat Rooks are exactly right, and the knights that make this iconic set so famous are right on the money correct. Perfect. I am very happy to own these chessmen.... they will be in my Family a very long time.

I just can't help rewiewing this Staunton Castle's 1962 Soviet Championship Historical Tal Chess Set. Best in accuracy among all the other renderings of this wonderful pattern. Simply fabulous! Your craftmanship is more than excellent, and I wanted you to know it. I congratulate myself to have found these chessmen.

I’m really impressed with this Dubrovnik 1950 set. The craftsmanship is excellent — the pieces are well-balanced, smooth to handle, and a joy to play with. On the board it feels lively and authentic, as close as I’ll get to owning the original for now — well, one can dream. Here’s to many hours of analysis and games with my daughter on this set!

The product quality is really nice. Compared to Staunton Castle's chess pieces though, I feel like this box is a bit expensive. And the felt inside smelled a bit, as if it was stored in a humid warehouse. Anyway, I give 5 starts because the overall experience with Staunton Castle has been fantastic.

This particular color scheme of Burnt Golden Rosewood and Boxwood is an amazing combination. The Burnt Golden Rosewood has a milk chocolate look to it. This chocolate color contrasts perfectly with the Boxwood as the pieces move around the board. If you're a fan of the Burnt look, it doesn't get any better than this Zagreb '59 Series Luxury Chessmen.
