The William Hallett Set
This set – the ‘William Hallett’ 1 is based on a specific antique set, circa 1840, in Jon Crumiller’s collection. This reproduction set is an ‘authentic’ recreation made possible by the generosity of Jon Crumiller, who kindly shared photos and dimensions of the chess pieces of his splendid Hallett set. The Hallett design is an aesthetic delight but original antique sets are very rare and available reproduction sets have so far lacked accuracy and elegance. The woodcarvers of Staunton Castle have achieved a high degree of authenticity in crafting this exceptional chess set which is faithful to the original. The woods used are the finest; high quality boxwood and genuine ebony (not overpainted but natural) and there are a choice of finishes – natural, antique, & distressed antique. We have taken the liberty of weighting the pieces (originals were unweighted), which improves stability and ergonomics in play. The pieces have felt base pads. 1 not much is known about William Hallett of High Holborn, and though he did register a pattern for a chess set in the mid 1800’s, it did not resemble this famous design which is nonetheless named after him. |

Shipping & Return
xReturns Policy
You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
