The original chess set was produced with a 3.5-inch king. We have faithfully reproduced this historic design in a larger and more impressive 4.4-inch club size, created especially to meet the preferences of discerning chess collectors.

Named in association with the celebrated German chess master Adolf Anderssen, this design is distinguished by its bold proportions, commanding presence and unmistakable period character. Particular attention has been given to preserving the characteristic features of the original 3.5-inch pattern while carefully enlarging its proportions to an impressive 4.4-inch club size. The Bishops display their distinctive broad vertical mitres, while the Kings, Queens, Rooks and Pawns retain the elegant proportions and substantial profiles associated with chessmen of the era.

The King-side Knights and Rooks feature the traditional King’s crown markings, an important historical detail found on period Jaques sets.
