1851-52 Early 2880 Jaques of London Reproduced Vintage 4.4" Chess set

Staunton Castle proudly present their very latest, carefully researched and precisely carved reproduction – 1851-52 Early 2880 Jaques of London Reproduced Vintage 4.4" Chess set

This set is meticulously handcrafted to accurately reproduce the design of the original Staunton pattern chessmen, registered1851-52 and first manufactured by Jaques of London. This particular design is the one of the Staunton set, which has become the most popular pattern for chessmen.

One of the famous Chess Collector Mr. Alan Fersht introduced this chess set on Facebook on 11th December 2023 and he described the brief history of this chess set that it’s a numbered set which is shown in the photo of label. Printed numbers started in about 1851/52. The 2 of 2880 means it’s in the Carton Pierre casket and the 880 it was the 880th one made. We are so much thankful to Mr. Alan Fersht to introduce this beautiful chess set and this is a big honor for us that we got the chance to reproduced this chess set.

This tournament sized Chess set features a 4.4" King with a 1.9725" diameter base. The chess pieces are hand carved by our highly-skilled artisans out of the highest-grade woods. The chess pieces are perfectly balanced and heavily weighted and felted and are beautifully finished.
Distinctive features of this set include the Bishops with open-miters and the unique design of the Knights, which was apparently inspired by the noble horses from the Jaques of London.
