The Piatigorsky Monarch is 4.4 Inch high and the pieces are amply weighted. The lighter pieces are of boxwood and the darker ones are mahogany stained and polished to shine. Each set is supplied with two additional queens. Piatigorsky is a Staunton-style chess set, truly the best ever designed made now in Amritsar in India.
